Costs and Accommodation

Tourist accommodation in Bhutan is a government approved hotels, guest houses and lodges and are segregated into two categories standard and luxury hotels. The quality of services provided by the hotels and resorts are just the same and generally comfortable for they are regulated by tourism authorities on daily basis but can be fairly basic when you travel to further East. Most hotels in the main tourist destinations are three star standards and have rooms with private bathrooms, hot water, telephone and electricity. Plumbing is not always up to the standard you may be used to and the standard of the hotels in general, mostly they don’t have central heating system but they will provide you with electric heater.

On other hand we can also arrange for you to spend a night in a local traditional farmhouse, enriching you with the experience of seeing a typical interior of the traditional house and the way we used to live in earlier decades, and a culture of hot stone bath along with showcasing how to prepare some of the mouth-watering local cuisine.

If the clients prefers to stay in a luxury hotel they will have to bear the extra cost ranging from US$ 500 to 1800 and above per night. For further details you can always contact us or you can email us.

***Individuals and groups of two shall be subjected to a surcharge, over and above daily tariff applicable as follows:

     -1 pax US$ 40.00 per night

    -2 pax US$ 30.00 each per night

Bhutan has two airlines that operates flights in and out of Bhutan. Drukair is a national carrier and Bhutan Airline is a private airline which started operating in 2011 and has brought in some needed competition. There is only one international airport at Paro and takes about an hour and half drive from Thimphu. There are also some new domestic routes in operation connecting Badbalathang in Bumthang, Yonphula in eastern Bhutan and Gelephu in southern Bhutan.

Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines flights can now be booked directly by yourself online, but usually it is preferable for you to ask us to make the flight booking for you.  We can hold the seats for you for a period without commitment as we discuss your itinerary and you can take time to finalize your travel plans. But shall not be held liable for the change in the costs of the airfare due to unforeseen circumstances.

It is always advisable to plan one day overnight stay or to have 5 to 6 hours in excess after reaching to your chosen point of entry to Bhutan. Because the schedules for Bhutan flights are subject to frequent change, due to unpredictable weather condition and often in very short notice.

The current rates for both entry and return flights are around US$450 (Kathmandu), US$700 (Delhi), US$750 (Bangkok), US$450 (Calcutta) and US$1150 (Singapore). They are charged in US dollar, as the price and value of the currency keeps on fluctuating on daily basis and therefore it can be only confirmed after issuing the tickets.

***Please note that Airfare of Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines is charged on top of the tour price***
